Camino Ingles

The Augustine Camino is one of the official feeder routes for the Camino Ingles in Spain. The distance from A Coruna to Santiago is only 74 km which is too short to qualify for a Compostela. Pilgrims can make up the distance by walking at least 26 km (a minimum of two stages) on the Augustine Camino – being careful to collect two stamps each day with dates.

Further information about starting the Camino Ingles on the Augustine Camino is available here Augustine Camino – Camino Inglés

Here is Paul from Sussex with his Compostela in Santiago and his Augustine Camino guidebook with a mixture of stamps from Kent and Spain May 2026, followed by his suggestions for how best to organise your trip.

Question?

Is it possible to combine the Camino Augustine with Camino Inglés (The Celtic Camino) to obtain The Compostella on reaching Santiago De Compostella?

Short answer is YES !

Longer answer is still a YES ! because I did exactly that last week, after walking the Camino Augustine from Rochester to Ramsgate a month ago, collecting the stamps in my credential / passport (found on the back pages of Camino Augustine book written by Andrew and Paula Kelly).

Using this same credential / passport in conjunction with one purchased at Igrexa de Santiago (Church of Santiago), A Coruna, collected stamps in both (see photos)

On arrival at the Camino de Santiago office in Santiago de Compostella, presented both and proudly received my Compostella (see photo).

Useful additional information.

  • If flying into A Coruna airport, there is a airport bus (1.60 euro), that takes one into the city centre.
  • Returning to A Coruna from Santiago de Compostella both the bus (approx. 6 euros / 60 mins) and train (approx. 7 euros / 31 mins) are fantastic options to do so by.
  • To pre register so as to get your Compostella quicker and mileage noted on it, when the menu / tab asks WAY? select English Way and START OF WAY? select Irlanda C Ing. Total mileage if one walks both in their entirety will be approx. 178 – 185 kms
  • Best stamp was in Sigueiro at a restaurant called Bellota. A waxed stamp (gold in colour) prepared in one’s presence.
  • Most unexpected stamp from the McDonalds in Santiago de Compostella.
